Jen has worked with individuals, families and partners in relationships for the past 20 years within the fields of education and psychology. Jen has always been interested in understanding human behavior and development and how narratives are systemic and evolve overtime. This is what led Jen to receive a BA in education and psychology, a MA in Marital and Family Therapy, and ultimately to becoming certified in Mindfulness. Jen practices as a narrative therapist and works to support individuals, couples and families to rewrite their stories.  Jen is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is a scientific, evidenced-based intervention used to support individuals, couples, and families in understanding how emotions tweak behaviors and how our emotions play a key role in our relationships with others. Jen uses narrative therapy and EFT to help clients explore their stories and identify healthy individual coping styles.

 

Jen understands and has observed how stress and anxiety can wreak havoc on us emotionally and take a toll on our bodies physically. Jen has witnessed the challenges many individuals face when seeking proper support systems and affordable mental health care. It is for this reason she decided to open Alley Breeze Wellness to share her educational backgrounds and create a place where everyone can find a support system to fit their individual needs.


As a teacher, Jen gained a vast amount of insight into the social and emotional learning of children and became inspired to find ways to help students, families and colleagues to incorporate mindfulness into their lives to decrease anxiety and increase personal awareness. Mindfulness is living in the present moment without judgement and allows us to create the space between reacting and carefully responding to life stressors. Mindfulness strategies can help everyone at any age to self-regulate, improve focus, increase self-control, decrease attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms and increase feelings of kindness towards themselves. Jen is passionate about helping individuals see the goodness and potential that lies within, because when we see this in ourselves, we can see it in others. Jen believes that’s how we make the world a more peaceful place.
