Mindfulness is living in the present moment without judgement and allows us to create the space between reacting and carefully responding to life stressors. Mindfulness strategies can help everyone at any age with self- regulation, improved focus, increase self- control, decrease attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms and increase feelings of kindness towards the self. Our team provides individual and group sessions including specialized workshops to support caregivers, teachers and students. These sessions are available in both English and Spanish.

In general, we seek to develop three key characteristics of mindfulness: Intention to cultivate awareness (and return to it again and again) Attention to what is occurring in the present moment (simply observing thoughts, feelings, sensations as they arise) Attitude that is non-judgmental, curious, and kind.
Why be mindful? Mindfulness practices can help us to increase our ability to regulate emotions, decrease stress, anxiety and depression. It can also help us to focus our attention, as well as to observe our thoughts and feelings without judgment.
Follow the 3-3-3 rule.
Look around you and name three things you see. Then, name three sounds you hear. Finally, move three parts of your body — your ankle, fingers, or arm.
Research has shown that mindfulness helps us reduce anxiety and depression. Mindfulness teaches us how to respond to stress with awareness of what is happening in the present moment, rather than simply acting instinctively, unaware of what emotions or motives may be driving that decision.
